The Roman infantry lines spread out before you, going against convention; the Roman commander arranges his troops for extra depth. Your troops are outnumbered and faced with a superior infantry force (however you’re cavalry is superior and will rout the Roman cavalry). They must rely on your tactical decisions in order to gain victory. Before your army marches to meet them you must decided on the composition of your line and how you wish to advance across the field. You can place your weaker Hispanic and Celtic forces in the center of your line and march forward with your center extended outward, forming a crescent like troop positioning.
This allows for greater army flexibility but lessens the defensive capabilities
of your force. Additionally, you could
have your veteran African soldiers form the center and deploy your men in a
traditional solid line deployment, while this limits your movement it allows
more soldiers to combat the Roman line at a given time.
